Question: How could Jesus die if He is God?

November 3, 2008

Question: Since God is immortal, and Jesus is God, how could Jesus die if He is God?

Answer: When Jesus took human form, He clothed Himself with humanity - and since humanity can suffer and die, Jesus was able to sacrifice Himself for our sins.

Question: What does 2 Peter 3:8 mean - “With the Lord one day is as a thousand years”?

Question: In 2 Peter 3:8 it says:

But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. (NKJV)

What does that mean?

Answer: In the following verse, we see that in context, the expression in 2 Peter 3:8 is in reference to why Jesus is taking so long to come again: “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9, NKJV)

Question: Does Matthew 24:38-42 predict a secret rapture?

Question: Matthew 24:38-42 says:

For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. 42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. (NKJV)

Does this mean there will be a secret rapture that no one will know about, before Jesus comes?

Answer: Noah declared to all the people that they had to repent and join him on his ark before the door was shut. The people of Noah’s time knew full well what they were denying, and had plenty of warning. Additionally, when the door to the ark was shut, it was a single event - there was no second chance after that for the people whom the flood destroyed.

Question: When do we apply the “one day, one year” time conversion?

Question: We learned in Message 7 that in Bible prophecy, time periods expressed in days actually mean years. In Revelation, however, the Millenium is written as “one thousand years” - do we convert that from days to years too? Where else does this become an issue?

Question: Will our pets go with us to Heaven?

Question: Will our beloved pets be allowed to go with us to Heaven? What about dead pets?

Answer: The Bible doesn’t say anything about pets, but we know there will be animals on the Earth made new. We just have to trust that God has the best in store for us.

Message 12 - Peace in War, Part II

November 2, 2008

The reward for the saved is to live forever in the presence of God - but what is this “Resurrection of Condemnation” spoken of in John 5:29? What happens to those who have decided they don’t want the Gift of salvation?

Many would have you believe they are cast into an eternal hell where they suffer conscious torment for all eternity, but is that really what the Bible says? Pastor Gayle Lasher explores the Biblical teachings on where the unsaved go after the second resurrection.

Message 10 - Peace Beyond The Storm

November 1, 2008

Last time, we looked at Christ’s first coming, being born in Bethlehem, and how His life fulfilled many prophecies in the Old Testament. Join Pastor Gayle Lasher tonight as we look at what the Bible says about Jesus’ second coming - He promised he would come back for us, and that it will be loud and obvious to all, not secret like many have been misled into believing.
